Pollock ran the Canadiens' hockey operations for 14 seasons and built what many consider the greatest front-office run in NHL history, winning nine Stanley Cups as general manager — still the record for the position. A master of drafting and trading years ahead of the market, he was the architect behind acquiring Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden, Larry Robinson, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe and Yvan Cournoyer, stocking Scotty Bowman's bench with a core that dominated the 1970s.
